Slaughterhouse Beach House by Olson Kundig Architects
By Inthralld on Jun 27, 2012
The design team at Olson Kundig Architects is responsible for creating some of the most incredible projects including the Chicken Point Cabin, Delta Shelter, and the beautiful Pierre House just to name a few.
Featured here is yet another stunning project in the Slaughterhouse Beach House. Located in the heart of paradise, otherwise known as Hawaii, the word breathtaking still doesn’t quite describe this dwelling properly.
“Located close to a well-known surfing spot on the island of Maui in Hawaii, Slaughterhouse Beach House expands the concept of a traditional surfing hut with three connected huts – general living quarters, guest suites, and a main sleeping area. The structure’s walls are constructed from rammed earth. In this process, different local earth-based mixtures are packed together, and the resulting striated layers are visible both inside and outside the building.”
