Glass Residence by Tato Architects

By Inthralld on Sep 28, 2012

This house is a special structure that commands a whole lot of attention. Located on a steep, steep mountain “Rokko,” Tato Architects created a house on top of a house. The bottom floor is completely clear glazing with a corrugated metal house sitting right on top.

The home’s kitchen and living room are grounded in the see through floor, while the private areas are housed upstairs. The metal upper level is surrounded by a wide balcony that creates a vast overhang on all four sides creating a lovely shaded area all over.

A fun fact about this home: the foundation was dug by hand as heavy machinery could not get access to the mountain side.
