Sneeoosh Cabin by Zeroplus Architects 1 Swinomish Indian Reserve Cabin Inspired By Backpacking Experiences

Cabins are the perfect little houses adapted to being surrounded by nature. I prefer them to vacation houses, especially since once in a while, a modern cabin is built in perfect harmony with the surroundings. Located near Deception Pass on the Swinomish Indian Reserve in Puget Sound, Washington, this modern cabin integrates a glass-enclosed living room visually connected to the surroundings and a heavily insulated sleeping area, where comfort, seclusion and darkness create a profound nocturnal rest. Named Sneeoosh Cabin, this ingenious building was inspired by backpacking experiences of Zeroplus Architects, who explain how they adapted the house to a natural desire to feel secure at night and vivacious during the day: “we look at it as a way to balance the differences between being exposed to the out of doors all day long and wanting relief, warmth and security as you sleep.” Imagine the light filtering through the trees and reaching the social interiors, enjoying views across Hope Island, Whidbey Island and the Olympic Mountains beyond – you can’t remain indifferent to this cabin’s architecture.
